Asbestos

A HIGHLY VERSATILE AND ONCE HIGHLY VALUED AND WELL USED MATERIAL, THIS IS NOW A KNOWN CAUSE OF CANCER.

Asbestos has been and is currently used in a variety of products. Versatile and resistant to heat, resistant to corrosion and light weight, asbestos fibers are woven into cloth or mixed into compounds to be used in manufacturing and construction. Roofing shingles, hot water tank blankets, car brakes, and fire resistant clothing are just a few items that contain asbestos fibers. The use of these fibers has been regulated but not eliminated.

Repairs, remodeling, or demolition of older structures may release asbestos fibers into the air where they are carried into your property.

WHAT IF I HAVE ASBESTOS IN MY FACILITY?

Asbestos fibers could be released into the air by the ripping or tearing away of materials. Before having repairs or remodeling of older buildings performed it is best to have it tested for asbestos. If you suspect that asbestos is present in your structure then treat it as if it does until proven otherwise. Especially limit exposure to damaged materials that may contain asbestos fibers until the materials can be removed by a professional.

HOW WE DETECT ASBESTOS

Here at Pinnacle, we use the most advanced techniques to detect asbestos. We employ multiple techniques such as Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) to identify asbestos down to a tenth of a micrometer. Using the same methods as the EPA, we are able to deliver precise results, giving you peace of mind and confidence in your test.

HEALTH EFFECTS FROM EXPOSURE TO ASBSESTO

Mesothelioma, lung and other types of cancer, as well as asbestosis have been linked to asbestos exposure. Particles inhaled into the lungs cause extensive damage. Smokers who have been exposed to asbestos are more at risk to develop serious health problems. These health problems can take years to fully develop and become evident.
